Random thought, Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

The food scene here is pretty good. Tons of great Korean places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Moved here from Pittsburgh about 4 years ago. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Still getting used to safety but Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've lived in Highland for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The healthcare scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Summers can be brutally hot
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Used to live on the East side, now on the The Heights side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely solid and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Riverside) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Charlotte about 9 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Four distinct seasons
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are affordable, gas is tough.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. No regrets on my end..
