Biggest downsides of living in Crofton?

Hi all, Crime rate is something to consider -Crofton sits at 132.9 per 100K. It's a a smaller city city with about 29,878 people. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Is this normal for Crofton? Any help is appreciated. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

I've lived in Downtown for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The public transit scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.
