First post here. We're a young couple and The unemployment rate is 4.6%, which is about average. With a population of 12,265, Crossville is a small town. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Thoughts? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Portland about 14 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good airport with direct flights
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are affordable, gas is underrated.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. No regrets on my end..

I work in education here and I have mixed feelings honestly. The job market for my field is excellent. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Highland. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in construction. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Riverside for 14 years. Moved from Austin for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.
**Employment:**
manufacturing is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is solid - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Riverside schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not a lot of cultural diversity. Dating scene is rough. And healthcare can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 5/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Used to live on the Sunset side, now on the Riverside side. Completely different vibe. it's improved dramatically in recent years.
