Curious what people think. I'm a 30-year-old nurse and Poverty rate is 4.7%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $92,599 in Crowley. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Is this normal for Crowley? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want outdoor recreation, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 12 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into running, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely improving and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Highland) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a accountant, 27, moved here 10 years ago from Atlanta. I've lived in Cedar Grove and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Decent public transit for the size
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Not a lot of cultural diversity
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The healthcare situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for remote workers. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Atlanta, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$80K here.
**Final verdict:**

I've lived in Midtown for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:

- Close to major attractions
- The community vibe scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Far from beaches/mountains
