Should I move to Crowley or stay in Salt Lake City?
I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Average temperature is around 65--F, so the weather is moderate. Median household income is $92,599, which feels pretty solid for the area. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. What do you all think? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

I've been here 15 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in East for 3 years. Moved from Charlotte for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.
**Employment:**
construction is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. East schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Not very walkable outside downtown. And job market can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 9/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Miami about 11 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are growing, gas is challenging.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
