Crown Point in the winter -how bad?

Hey, I'm retired and Poverty rate is 5.8%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $95,757, which feels pretty solid for the area. Household incomes average around $95,757 in Crown Point. Crime rate is something to consider -Crown Point sits at 23.1 per 100K. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening
- The cost of living scene is tough

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Bought a house here in 2015 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Internet is decent in most areas.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The healthcare scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Hope this helps!.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.

As someone who grew up here, it's improved dramatically in recent years. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much established but now it's improving.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 4 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Tampa about 9 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Decent public transit for the size

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Winters are long and cold

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Happy to answer more specific questions..
