I'm a 31-year-old physical therapist and Homes are going for about $272,800 on average. It's a a smaller city city with about 34,042 people. The suburbs are where most families end up. What would you do? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is weather. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.

I'm a writer and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. The community is improving and there's always something going on.

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value school system, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely tough and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Eastside) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

The food scene here is solid. Tons of great farm-to-table places. it's been a really good experience overall.
