Housing market in Crystal Lakes right now

Hey folks, I'm retired and Poverty rate is 18.4%, which is higher than I expected. The median home value here is around $118,400, which is actually reasonable. The unemployment rate is 4.9%, which is about average. You can expect to pay around $1,026 for rent here. Homes are going for about $118,400 on average. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Pros:
- Nice parks and trails
- Low taxes
- Lots of new development
- Good internet infrastructure
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- Hot summers
- Lack of diversity
- Boring for young people
Does this match your experience? Thanks for reading. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Bought a house here in 2020 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

I'm a real estate agent and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. The community is surprisingly good and there's always something going on.
