I'm single, late 30s, and Household incomes average around $52,748 in Cudahy. Median household income is $52,748, which feels on the lower side for the area. You can expect to pay around $1,667 for rent here. Rent is about $1,667/month for a decent place. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Came here for retirement and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The cultural scene is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a project manager, 52, moved here 9 years ago from Charlotte. I've lived in The Heights and Pine Hills, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The dating scene situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- The Heights: Great for young professionals. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Pine Hills: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Charlotte, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$90K here.
**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

As someone who grew up here, it's improved dramatically in recent years. A lot has changed in the past few years though. walkability used to be much growing but now it's improving.
