Cullman is underrated, change my mind

OK so Born and raised here. Average temperature is around 62--F, so the weather is moderate. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

I'm a project manager and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is decent and there's always something going on.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've lived in West for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Close to major attractions
- The school system scene is improving

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

The food scene here is average. Tons of great Thai places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a sales manager, 58, moved here 12 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in Meadowbrook and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Decent public transit for the size
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Nightlife is limited
3. The weather situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Meadowbrook: Great for singles. average vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
