Starting a business in Cumberland Head?

Curious what people think. I've been here for 8 years and It's a a small town city with about 1,622 people. Crime rate is something to consider -Cumberland Head sits at 172.2 per 100K. With a population of 1,622, Cumberland Head is a small town. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Any advice would be great. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a project manager, 56, moved here 3 years ago from Austin. I've lived in West and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Not a lot of cultural diversity
3. The traffic situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- West: Great for families. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Austin, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $80K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
