What's it really like living in Cumberland?

I'm a 55-year-old software engineer and Rent is about $990/month for a decent place.

Bought a house here in 2016 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is job market. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 8 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Affordable housing options
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are affordable, gas is excellent.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in West for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events and festivals
- The safety scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
