Is it worth buying in Cupertino?

Hey folks, Just moved here 8 months ago and Rent is about $3,501/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $3,501 for rent here. Household incomes average around $231,139 in Cupertino. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Thanks! Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Phoenix about 5 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are reasonable, gas is better than expected.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely excellent and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Springfield) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
