Hi all, We have two kids and With a population of 58,886, Cupertino is a smaller city. It's a a smaller city city with about 58,886 people. Homes are going for about $2,000,001 on average. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Would love some local perspective. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Downtown. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely pretty good and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Midtown) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Eastside for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Close to major attractions
- Diverse dining options
- The traffic scene is tough
The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Limited shopping options
