Curious what people think. Just moved here 12 months ago and Crime rate is something to consider -Cynthiana sits at 94.4 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $763 for rent here. It's a a small town city with about 6,412 people. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. Thoughts? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 9 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in Pine Hills area are average. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Midtown. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in tech. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
