Longtime lurker here, Rent is about $2,454/month for a decent place. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Anyone in a similar situation? The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is excellent in most areas.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Springfield. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in retail. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Thai.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in West for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good internet infrastructure
- The cultural scene scene is solid
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Feel free to reach out with questions..
