Random thought, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and You can expect to pay around $2,454 for rent here. Median household income is $124,167, which feels pretty solid for the area. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. Does this match your experience? Thanks for reading. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Fairview. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in consulting. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
Definitely worth checking out..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are tough, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

The food scene here is better than expected. Tons of great Southern places. I have mixed feelings honestly.

We moved here with our family and I love the pace of life here. Schools in Downtown area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 13 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into running, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want food scene, then yeah this place is great. But if public transit matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from San Francisco about 10 years ago. The main reasons were work and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Diverse dining options
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are stable, gas is tough.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Happy to answer more specific questions..
