I've been living here for 13 years and I'd say I genuinely enjoy living here. The school system is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

I've lived in Highland for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Decent public transit for the size
- The cultural scene scene is solid
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited shopping options
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. Hope this helps!.

Bought a house here in 2019 and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Property values have gone about the same since then.

I'm a teacher and I've found it exceeded my expectations. The community is average and there's always something going on.

I work in retail here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is average. Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Meadowbrook. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value job market, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely improving and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Portland, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Can feel isolated.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in North for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- The dating scene scene is tough
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Summers can be brutally hot
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Boston about 5 years ago. The main reasons were family and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are pricey, gas is excellent.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Happy to answer more specific questions..
