Pros and cons of Dacula after 8 years

I'm originally from Indianapolis and Rent is about $1,752/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 4.3%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $336,500 on average. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Pros:
- Nice parks and trails
- Growing food scene
- Low taxes
- Walkable downtown

Cons:
- Hot summers
- Cold winters
- Few job opportunities in some fields
What do you all think? TIA! The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Downtown. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in Eastside for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening
- The housing market scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Cedar Grove for 3 years. Moved from Chicago for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
legal is strong here. education is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is solid - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Cedar Grove schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Limited high-paying job options. And healthcare can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 6/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
