Considering Dakota Ridge vs Salt Lake City -help me decide
Household incomes average around $120,368 in Dakota Ridge. Homes are going for about $570,400 on average. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. Is this normal for Dakota Ridge? Appreciate any input. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value job market, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.

I've been living here for 2 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The school system is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 4 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..
