Biggest downsides of living in Dale City?

OK so We have two kids and The unemployment rate is 3.0%, which is pretty low. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Let me know your thoughts. Appreciate any input. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

We moved here with our family and the quality of life is solid. Schools in Lakewood area are average. Kids love it here.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Maple Ridge for 12 years. Moved from Nashville for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
construction is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is solid - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Property taxes are high. Limited entertainment options. And job market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 8/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Boston about 10 years ago. The main reasons were school and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are growing, gas is tough.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
