Anyone else feel this way? Been living here since 2010. Median household income is $113,245, which feels pretty solid for the area. You can expect to pay around $1,868 for rent here. Poverty rate is 5.0%, which is pretty low. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value traffic, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely challenging and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Eastside for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Close to major attractions
- Diverse dining options
- The public transit scene is solid
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Came here for weather and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Homeless population growing downtown

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a teacher who relocated here from LA about 5 years ago. The main reasons were weather and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are affordable, gas is pretty good.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Portland about 13 years ago. The main reasons were school and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are competitive, gas is tough.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
