Dallas quality of life - honest take

Been meaning to post this.

My wife and I moved here from Dallas about 8 years ago. Public transit is a work in progress - you'll want a car.

Median income here is around which {inc_feel}. I'm paying /mo for a 1-bed in Knox-Henderson and honestly seems high for what I get.

What I like:
- Good parks and trails
- Easy to meet people
- Good internet

What I don't:
- Limited public transit
- Nightlife is lacking
- Wind never stops

The weather took some getting used to but I actually love it now. The suburbs vs city debate here is real.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Weekend warrior here - Dallas is decent for kayaking. Traffic has gotten noticeably worse in the past year.

I'll give you a thorough answer since I've been through this exact situation.

I moved to Knox-Henderson from Portland about 8 years ago. Initially I loved it immediately. But after settling in, The food scene in {hood} is honestly incredible..

A few things I'd recommend:
- Check out Knox-Henderson and Preston Hollow for housing
- Don't judge the whole city by downtown
- Check out the local brewery scene

The biggest adjustment was food scene. Honestly the biggest downside is {downside}.. Overall I'd give Dallas a 7/10 for young professionals.

Not to be negative but the food scene is overrated. I still like living here overall though. Just keeping it real.
