How is Dallas for outdoor activities?

Hey folks, Household incomes average around $67,760 in Dallas. Average temperature is around 69°F, so the weather is moderate. The unemployment rate is 3.4%, which is pretty low. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. What neighborhoods would you suggest? The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Highland for 13 years. Moved from Houston for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
construction is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is surprisingly good - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Highland schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited high-paying job options. Homeless population growing downtown. And public transit can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 8/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want walkability, then yeah this place is great. But if dating scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I'm a social worker and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community is improving and there's always something going on.

Bought a house here in 2023 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

I've been living here for 5 years and I'd say it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor recreation is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much affordable but now it's improving.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Highland. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in tech. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Good luck with whatever you decide..
