How much do you pay for rent in Dallas?
Hey folks, Military spouse here. The unemployment rate is 3.4%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,403/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $295,300 on average. Household incomes average around $67,760 in Dallas. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.
Pros:
- Good job market
- Close to nature
- Diverse community
- Active local events
- Good airport connections
Cons:
- Cold winters
- High property taxes
- Chain restaurants dominate
Anyone in a similar situation? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.
