Longtime lurker here, I work in real estate and Average temperature is around 69°F, so the weather is moderate. The city has invested a lot in new development. Any advice would be great. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Used to live on the Westside side, now on the Downtown side. Completely different vibe. it was the best decision I ever made.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a HR manager, 40, moved here 13 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in Old Town and Oak Park, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Four distinct seasons
2. Close to major attractions
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The housing market situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for singles. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Oak Park: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $90K-$90K here.
**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've been living here for 15 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..
