Moving to Dallas — what should I know?

Alright, Homes are going for about $295,300 on average. With a population of 1.3M, Dallas is a major city. Median household income is $67,760, which feels about average for the area. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Am I wrong here? The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Boston about 10 years ago. The main reasons were work and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are affordable, gas is decent.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Feel free to reach out with questions..
