Weekend activities in Dallas?

Been meaning to ask this. Born and raised here. Median household income is $67,760, which feels about average for the area. Average temperature is around 69°F, so the weather is moderate. Homes are going for about $295,300 on average. Rent is about $1,403/month for a decent place. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. What are your go-to spots? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is food scene. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Worth doing your research before committing.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely tough and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want job market, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Sunset. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
