Moving to Daly City -what should I know?

Anyone else feel this way? I relocated for work and Household incomes average around $119,570 in Daly City. With a population of 103K, Daly City is a mid-size city. Crime rate is something to consider -Daly City sits at 215.3 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $2,523 for rent here. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Is this normal for Daly City? Any help is appreciated. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in The Heights. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Maple Ridge. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in finance. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is food scene. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've been living here for 8 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The dating scene is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely decent and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Internet is challenging in most areas.

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. job market used to be much established but now it's tough.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Tampa about 10 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are growing, gas is decent.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Definitely worth checking out..

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's been a really good experience overall.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Atlanta it's pretty good.

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Oak Park for 11 years. Moved from LA for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is tough - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Oak Park schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Chain restaurants dominate. Can feel isolated. And community vibe can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 8/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've been in South for 11 years. Moved from San Francisco for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. consulting is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. South schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Road conditions need improvement. And dating scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 9/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
