How are the schools in Danbury?

Curious what people think. I grew up here but left for a while. Homes are going for about $381,600 on average. The unemployment rate is 4.4%, which is about average. You can expect to pay around $1,804 for rent here. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely improving and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Pine Hills. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in construction. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Good luck with whatever you decide..
