Curious what people think. Median household income is $83,422, which feels pretty solid for the area. The median home value here is around $381,600, which seems about average. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. What do you all think?

I work in hospitality here and I love the pace of life here. The job market for my field is average. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it was the best decision I ever made. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in East. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in real estate. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Hope this helps!.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Tampa about 14 years ago. The main reasons were school and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Affordable housing options
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is average.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. No regrets on my end..

I've lived in Old Town for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Affordable housing options
- The dating scene scene is solid
The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want food scene, then yeah this place is great. But if healthcare matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
