I work in retail here and it's not perfect but it works for me. The job market for my field is tough. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a chef, 27, moved here 7 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Riverside and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Nightlife is limited
3. The safety situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for singles. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $70K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 3 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Seattle about 2 years ago. The main reasons were family and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is decent.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Good luck with whatever you decide..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 7 years ago. The main reasons were family and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are wild, gas is improving.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've been here 5 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into running, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's been a really good experience overall.
