Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 12 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in South. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Came here for quality of life and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The traffic is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

We moved here with our family and I genuinely enjoy living here. Schools in The Heights area are tough. Kids love it here.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want nightlife, then yeah this place is great. But if healthcare matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Miami it's improving.

The food scene here is challenging. Tons of great Mediterranean places. it was the best decision I ever made.
