Should I move to Danville or stay in Salt Lake City?
I'm a 38-year-old project manager and With a population of 43,426, Danville is a smaller city. Household incomes average around $223,206 in Danville. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance! The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's been a really good experience overall. The only thing I'd watch out for is school system. Other than that, Good luck with whatever you decide..

Used to live on the Fairview side, now on the South side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from San Francisco about 8 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Decent public transit for the size
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 1 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in East. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in finance. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Came here for quality of life and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The safety is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
