Pros and cons of Danville after 7 years

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a nurse at the local hospital and You can expect to pay around $1,118 for rent here. The median home value here is around $269,400, which seems about average. The unemployment rate is 1.2%, which is pretty low. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Good job market
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Rising rent prices
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Far from major airports
Anyone in a similar situation? Thanks in advance! The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Bought a house here in 2016 and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good airport with direct flights
- The healthcare scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Eastside for 14 years. Moved from Houston for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
legal is strong here. marketing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Eastside schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Road conditions need improvement. And traffic can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 8/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 12 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are stable, gas is excellent.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Definitely worth checking out..
