Should I move to Danville or stay in Sacramento?

First post here. The unemployment rate is 1.2%, which is pretty low. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. What do you all think? Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 6 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in Sunset for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good airport with direct flights
- The outdoor recreation scene is average

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. Definitely worth checking out..

Moved here from New York about 6 years ago. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Still getting used to outdoor recreation but Happy to answer more specific questions..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want food scene, then yeah this place is great. But if cost of living matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Meadowbrook. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in tech. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Definitely worth checking out..
