Hey everyone, Homes are going for about $101,900 on average. Household incomes average around $45,128 in Darby. The unemployment rate is 11.4%, which is concerning. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. TIA! The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Fairview. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in tech. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Korean.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from Minneapolis about 15 years ago. The main reasons were work and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Close to major attractions
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are manageable, gas is tough.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

The food scene here is challenging. Tons of great Italian places. it exceeded my expectations.
