Honest thoughts on life in Darby

Been meaning to ask this. I'm a remote worker and Poverty rate is 29.8%, which is higher than I expected. With a population of 10,664, Darby is a small town. Rent is about $1,337/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 56--F, so the weather is moderate. It's a a small town city with about 10,664 people. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Pros:
- Diverse community
- Low taxes
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Rising rent prices
- Limited dining options
- High property taxes
- Chain restaurants dominate
What neighborhoods would you suggest? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Boston about 12 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Nightlife is limited

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are pricey, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The food scene scene is tough

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited high-paying job options

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
