Thinking about relocating to Darlington from Albuquerque
OK so I'm retired and Household incomes average around $31,240 in Darlington. The median home value here is around $163,000, which is actually reasonable. It's a a small town city with about 6,128 people. With a population of 6,128, Darlington is a small town. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. Should I be concerned? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Greenfield. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in retail. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Highland. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in tech. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Denver about 3 years ago. The main reasons were weather and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are reasonable, gas is underrated.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
