Not sure if this has been asked before, but Crime rate is something to consider -Dauphin sits at 79.7 per 100K. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Am I wrong here? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in The Heights. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in marketing. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Bought a house here in 2017 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone up significantly since then.
