Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. the quality of life is solid.

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much established but now it's pretty good.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The weather is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in East. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

No regrets on my end..

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events and festivals
- The public transit scene is solid

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Definitely worth checking out..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
