Commute times in Davenport -how bad?

Anyone else feel this way? With a population of 101K, Davenport is a mid-size city. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Boston about 8 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are established, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it was the best decision I ever made. Happy to answer more specific questions..
