Moving to Davenport -what should I know?

I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Household incomes average around $64,497 in Davenport. Rent is about $930/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 3.1%, which is pretty low. With a population of 101K, Davenport is a mid-size city. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Thoughts? Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 12 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 11 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into running, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

I work in manufacturing here and I genuinely enjoy living here. The job market for my field is excellent. Happy to answer more specific questions..

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Uptown area are tough. Kids love it here.

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much affordable but now it's solid.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Fairview. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in retail. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Feel free to reach out with questions..
