Living in Davie -the reality

Hey, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and With a population of 106K, Davie is a mid-size city. Household incomes average around $87,171 in Davie. Crime rate is something to consider -Davie sits at 254.4 per 100K. The median home value here is around $433,600, which is pretty steep. You can expect to pay around $1,967 for rent here. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Walkable downtown
- Active local events
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Cold winters
- Limited dining options
- Mosquitoes and humidity
Thanks in advance! There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a data analyst, 43, moved here 9 years ago from Boston. I've lived in Highland and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The cultural scene situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for retirees. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Boston, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
