Working in Davie -salaries realistic?

Longtime lurker here, We're a young couple and You can expect to pay around $1,967 for rent here. With a population of 106K, Davie is a mid-size city. Rent is about $1,967/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 3.1%, which is pretty low. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. What do you all think? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in West for 13 years. Moved from Atlanta for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. West schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Urban sprawl is real. Property taxes are high. And housing market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 8/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. food scene used to be much established but now it's excellent.
