Random thought, Poverty rate is 5.3%, which is pretty low. With a population of 66,801, Davis is a smaller city. It's a a smaller city city with about 66,801 people. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Am I wrong here? Any help is appreciated. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Strong sense of community
- The weather scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Definitely worth checking out..

Came here for quality of life and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The cultural scene is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Westside. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in tech. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like seafood.
