Longtime lurker here, Military spouse here. Homes are going for about $829,000 on average. Rent is about $2,043/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $829,000, which is pretty steep. Average temperature is around 62--F, so the weather is moderate. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Am I overthinking this? Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. housing market used to be much pricey but now it's challenging.

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in Springfield area are decent. Kids love it here.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Meadowbrook for 10 years. Moved from Salt Lake City for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.
**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is improving - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Meadowbrook schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Dating scene is rough. Bugs and humidity in summer. And food scene can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 6/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
