Job hunting in Davis -tips?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Been living here since 2014. Crime rate is something to consider -Davis sits at 153.4 per 100K. Rent is about $2,043/month for a decent place. It's a a smaller city city with about 66,801 people. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. What do you all think? Appreciate any input. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Old Town. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in legal. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 11 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into running, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.
