Just moved to Davis Junction, any tips?

Longtime lurker here, I'm a remote worker and You can expect to pay around $735 for rent here. Median household income is $103,615, which feels pretty solid for the area. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. What do you all think? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Came here for family and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The traffic is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Oak Park. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in finance. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Definitely worth checking out..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 15 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Nashville it's better than expected.
