Hey everyone, Born and raised here. The median home value here is around $510,600, which is pretty steep. Crime rate is something to consider -Dayton sits at 15.3 per 100K. Homes are going for about $510,600 on average. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Worth the trade-offs? Any help is appreciated. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development.

I've lived in Westside for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- The healthcare scene is improving
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 12 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Bought a house here in 2016 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone up a bit since then.
